Inspire. Create. Share. 2015 South Pacific Convention - Swap No. 1

This year for the South Pacific 2015 Convention I've made 3 swap designs with them all being very different from each other. One is very pretty and girly and the other is a bit more modern.

Here is what the first one looks like in full.

There is actually a story to how I came to use this stamp set for my swaps. I really had no idea as to what to do this year and was really stumped up until about 3 weeks ago. Chatting with my upline Liv I said her 'Tell me the first stamp set that comes into your head and I'll use that". What she did instead was went and got her catalogue, opened it up to a random page and told me the stamps on that page to use. After 3 attempts of that (to get a stamp set that I actually had and no I don't own them all!) we got to Stippled Blossoms.

I did forget that when Stippled Blossoms was chosen that it is a two-step stamp (need to use a Stamp-a-ma-jig to line up) and that they all needed to be cut out by hand! Why do I do this to myself?????!!!!!!!!!! I did something similarly stupid last year, fussy cutting and water colouring. You would think I would have learnt!!!!!!! But no. I must be a sucker for punishment!

It really does look beautiful and well worth all that effort! Might need to book myself in for hand surgery though! All that fussy cutting has worn out my hands! No more fussy cutting on swaps!!!
Till my next swap!

Inspire. Create. Share. 2015 South Pacific Convention - Roommate Gifts

By the time this post goes live we are into out first day of the fun and excitement of the Stampin' Up! South Pacific Convention on the Gold Coast, QLD. This is my 3rd convention and it doesn't get any less exiting.

I just wanted to share the little 'roomie' gifts that I made for my fellow room mates at the house we are staying at. There is room for 9 crazy, fun-loving, Stampin' Up! ladies and I can say that we are a FULL house!

When you go to a Stampin’ Up! event and you share a room with your friends (those you already know or perhaps those you are meeting for the first time) it is fun to have a little gift to share.
The box I made with the gift box punch board. Which is really easy to use and decorated it with a gold butterfly from the butterfly thinlits.

Check out the Stampin' Up!  You Tube clip at the bottom of the post to see how really easy the gift box punch board is to use!

On the top is a piece of the beautiful Sahara Sand Lace Ribbon.
And inside is .....
A sparkling lanyard for everyone, for our name tags. Who doesn't like a bit of bling, right?
Lanyards for everyone! Wouldn't these boxes look fantastic as a party favour or a wedding bomboniere.

Till tomorrow when I show the swaps that I made for convention.

Stamp Review Crew: Zoo Babies Edition

http://stampreviewcrew.blogspot.com/2015/04/stamp-review-crew-zoo-babies-edition.html

It's the third Monday of the April so that means it's time for another Stamp Review Crew Blog Hop. This hop we are focusing on the Zoo Babies Stamp Set. So get ready for some cute creations!
Remember, if you get lost on the hop click on the banner at the top of this post and this will give you the list of all the 'hoppers' in The Stamp Review Crew.

Now on to my card using Zoo Babies.

I've used the colour combination that co-ordinates with the Lullaby DSP. Which is so soft and beautiful and lends itself to cute and gorgeous baby creations. I've created a baby girl card but change around the DSP and the colours and you could easily recreate this card for a baby boy.

How cute are those animals? Love it!

And yes I've used my favourite thinlits and sentiment stamps again! I just love these!!! They are just so versatile and can be used on anything!!!!
Watch this space for the baby boy version of this card!!!

The cuteness is not over, there is still more of The Stamp Review Crew for you to visit and see what they created with the Zoo Babies set. Click on the next button below to see what the talented Heidi Baks has created.

Just Add Ink #259 - Just Add Sequins

This week at Just Add Ink, Patrice has come up with this weeks theme - Just Add Sequins.

I really wanted to show off the 2013-2015 In Colour Sequins and use my favourite colours, the 2013-2015 In Colours. These colours will be retiring this year and there may even be a tear or two shed when that happens.

There was quite a process to this card and it took quite a while to put together but I really love the sparkly effect that the sequins give. It's quite hard to capture that in the photo how sparkly they are!

Because there are other sequin shapes in the 2013-2015 In Colour sequin assortment I had to sort out all the circle ones and then I stuck a Jumbo Sticky Round on the circle and stuck each sequin down one by one. It was much easier that way and there was no glue mess!

All finished off with my favourite thinlits and stamp set at the moment. I love the Hello You Thinlits and the Crazy About You set. They are so versatile and I really love the size of the words on the stamp set. Not too big and not too small.

Be sure to check out the rest of the Just Add Ink Design Team and all their sparkly goodness and come and join in the fun!

Just Add Ink #258 - A Happy Hooray

This week at Just Add Ink we have a colour challenge suggest by yours truly! I love these bright bold colours and thought it would be an awesome colour combo when I suggested it but when I went to create my card I was stumped! It got me good!
Here is the colour combo...

I've said it a few times before and I'm sure it happens to most of you when you are creating but this card started out waaaaaaaaaaaaay different to what it ended up.
I originally had a the Smokey Slate layer stamped with the dictionary stamp, then the Melon Mambo Scallops were sitting at the top of the card and I was going to use one of the thinlits from the Hello You set using the silver glimmer paper. It was all going wrong. Wrong, wrong, wrong! LOL!

I took a few deep breaths, looked at my stamps again and then a few other ideas 'popped' into my brain and I went from there to create the card you now see.

I must say that even though the card wasn't what I had originally planned to create I really love what it ended up to be. Sometimes when you are creating and things aren't going the way you want them too. Step back and maybe leave your creation for an hour or two and something else might come to you that you hadn't thought of before.

Be sure to have a look at what the rest of the Just Add Ink Design Team have created and come and join in the colour challenge. Can't wait to see what you create!

Stamp Review Crew: Painted Petals Edition

http://stampreviewcrew.blogspot.com/2015/04/stamp-review-crew-painted-petals-edition.html

It's the first Monday of the month so that means it's time for another Stamp Review Crew Blog Hop. I hope that you had a wonderful Easter, spending time with your families and enjoying everything that is Easter. This hop we are focusing on the beautiful stamp set Painted Petals. It's a stunning set and as the name suggests the images look like a beautiful painting.

If you are following round on the hop, I'm #16 on the hop. You may have joined me from the very wonderful and talented Linda Callahan, or you may have started he with me. Either way you are in for a creative treat! If you get lost on the hop click on the banner at the top of this post and this will give you the list of all the 'hoppers' in The Stamp Review Crew.

This hop I really wanted to challenge myself to make 3 cards all using the same colours and similar elements. I know that may not seem a huge deal but it is quite a big thing for me as I tend to make one card and then can't seem to find a way to make other cards using similar colours and elements.

I think I have achieved my challenge to myself and created 3 cards all looking similar but all different too.

My first card I started with the striped background. I used the Stampin' Write markers to colour the stamp in Blushing Bride, Soft Sky and Pistachio Pudding. I then repeated the stamping to created the background.
I then punched out the 2-1/2" circle and then stamped the Painted Petal images on the circle and then finished of the rest of the card the some twine, sequins, banners and a butterfly punched out of vellum.

My next card I used the longer flower image and bunched them together on the side of the card and then layered all the other elements around it. It is a bit hard to see in the photo but the flower image on the circle I first stamped off on to some scrap paper and then stamped again on to the circle to give make the image look lighter.

My last card uses similar elements again but in a different layout. The flower images are stamped around the side and then I stamped off the stripes in the circle to give them a lighter look. All finished off with a vintage button, sequins, gold foil sheets and the vellum butterfly.

Thank you for stopping by. Click on the next button below to hop on to Wendy Weixler and see what she has done with the Painted Petals Set. Thanks for looking and don't forget to leave a comment! I love to know what you think of my creations!

Just Add Ink #257 - Just Add Inspiration

This weeks challenge at Just Add Ink is an inspiration pic challenge. Its very lacy, very flowery, very pretty, almost has a vintage feel to it! It's all the things I LOVE! Here is the pic ...

See, so pretty.
And here is my card...

Its time to start thinking about those Mother's Day creations as Mother's Day is just over a month away here in Australia. As I'm preparing this blog post I've only just realised I've used a very similar layout for my previous creation. It must work for me.

I've used stamped the flowers from Choose Happiness stamp set in Crisp Cantaloupe and Baked Brown Sugar and then 'fussy' cut them out.

I've layered the Venetian Crochet Trim on the Burlap Ribbon. I originally had the new Sahara Sand Lace layered on the Burlap but it was blending in too much and just didn't look 'right'. I do like the contrast of the cream Crochet trim on the burlap.Tip: Did you know that you can 'cut' the burlap ribbon with the Large Scallop Edgelit Die (I'm sure other framelits, thinlits and edgelits too)? Make sure you run it back and forth through the Big Shot a few times to ensure that the Burlap is cut right through.

Now that the Blendabilites are no longer available (Boohooho *still crying my eyes out*). I've gone back to some of the original colouring methods that Stampin' Up! offer. Here I've stamped the leaves, also from Choose Happiness, on watercolour paper and then used the Stampin' Write Markers and a blender pen to colour the leaves. The branch I only used the marker. It is a stunning way to colour!

Make sure you check out all of the other stunning creations from the rest of the Just Add Ink Design Team and then come and join in this weeks challenge and see what inspires you in the inspiration pic.

Thanks for Looking!
