Just Add Ink #273 - Just Add Colour

WOW! These Friday's seem to come around so quickly and today is no different! Today we have a colour challenge at Just Add Ink brought to you by, Me!

It's a bright, bold and maybe even a little bit of a tricky colour combination but it yields some beautiful creations.

I've used the hostess set 'A Whole Lot of Lovely'. It really is a beautiful set and if you can get your hands on it with some Stampin' Reward $$, it is well worth it.

A little bit of sparkle and bling. I can't make a card these days with out some sparkle. It just looks naked without it!

Make sure you check out the rest of the Just Add Ink Design Team's creations! They are one talented lot of ladies! Come and show us what you can do with these awesome colours!

Just Add Ink #272 - Just Add Butterflies

This weeks Just Add Ink challenge, brought to you by Design Team Member Di, is Just Add Butterflies and with all the new butterfly sets in the Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue how could we not have a Just Add Butterflies challenge.

The stamp set that I've used for the challenge is the hostess set, Floral Wings, and as I've said before you can get your hands on this set in two ways, either hold a qualifying Stampin' Up! party with me (must be over $250AUD in sales) or place a $250AUD order with me and you can then choose this set for free. Its as simple as that!

The cardstock used is Shimmery White and I love the subtle sparkle that it gives but it just doesn't show up that beautifully in my photos. If anyone has any tips on how to photograph the Shimmery White cardstock so see that beautiful sparkle I'd love to hear your tips.

The background is the new Brick Wall Embossing Folder. This is another one of the embossing folders that is quite large, 15.2cm x 15.2cm so you can emboss larger pieces of cardstock. YAY! Love that!

The colours used to layer the butterfly are Memento Tuxedo Black, Watermelon Wonder, Cucumber Crush and Gold. The gold body of the butterfly is actually from the set Watercolor Wings. I wanted give the butterfly some more definition and give it a bit of a body and that worked perfectly.

All finished off with some Gold Glimmer Paper, Gold Metallic Thread and Metallic Sequin Assortment.

Have a look at all the other wonderful butterfly creations from the rest of the Just Add Ink Design Team and I can't wait to see your butterfly beauties!

Thanks for Stopping By!

TGIF Challenge #TGIFC12 - Awesomely Artisitc

I think the cleaning up in my craft space as done my crafting a world of good because here I am again, two weeks in a row, entering my card into a challenge blog. Or I may just be avoiding my housework. I think it might be the latter. Who wants to do boring housework when there is so much fun stuff to play with?Right? This weeks challenge at TGIF Challenge is to break out your new favourite product and go for it!

I just received an order last week with a box full of new stamps! Yay, new stamps!!! Just had to break open the set  'Awesomely Artistic'. I've seen some fantastic stuff done with this stamp set and just couldn't wait to have a play.

If you follow me on my Facebook page you will know that this card is the second attempt at this card. I embossed and coloured the flower image on the first card and then stamped one of the other images from this set and it all went downhill from there! It just didn't look right at all! Don't you hate that when you spend ages on doing colouring and you stuff it all up!!

So I started all over again and, yay, I didn't ruin it! I think it turned out quite pretty. I am a bit of a pink girl after all!

I embossed the flower image on watercolour paper using white embossing powder and used Pear Pizzazz, Old Olive, Pink Pirouette and Melon Mambo to colour the leaves and the flowers.

The dragonfly I embossed with Gold embossing powder on Vellum. I have a bit of a thing with embossing at the moment. It is just a bit pretty and it gives you cards another element.

Why don't you crack open your newest products and have a play at TGIF Challenge too?

Thanks for Stopping By!

Calypso Mint A Whole Lot of Lovely

I'm really in love with the new Envelope Paper but I really haven't used it to make Envelopes. I just love the striped pattern that much that I've used it on a lot of my cards lately. And this one is no different.

I must say that layout and colours for this card aren't my original idea. I gained my inspiration from our fabulous Annual Catalogue which is full of fantastic pictures and ideas. I just changed it up a bit for my creation. Sometimes when you're under the pump to get heaps of creations made you need some other ideas for inspiration.

If I had have looked at these colours on their own and not made up in a wonderful card I probably wouldn't have used them together. And some of these colours aren't my go to colours, like Calypso Coral. But I really like the way they came together! Sometimes you just need to see a colour combo put together to see how it would work. Well I do! Just ask my husband when we built our house! He got a little frustrated with me cause I needed to 'see it' first before we chose lots of things! Oops!

The Stamp Review Crew - Watercolour Wings Edition

http://stampreviewcrew.blogspot.com/2015/07/stamp-review-crew-watercolor-wings.html

Shh!!! Did you hear that?? It's the sound of silence! My kids went back to school today after 3 weeks off for their winter break. I love having them home from school and the break from routine that we don't have to be out the door so early. But the weather these holidays was so wintry and cold (well it is winter but I was hoping for a few clear days) that we ended up being indoors for most of the time and the dreaded 'I'm bored, there's nothing to do' and me entertaining them most of the time. SO today is a perfect day to do some uninterrupted crafting and blogging.

Today is also the third Monday of the month so that means it's time for another Stamp Review Crew Blog Hop.  This hop we are using the absolutely beautiful Watercolor Wings Stamp set with matching Framelits!!! WOOHOO!  When I first saw this set in the catalogue I gasped. It is stunning! And by the looks of it out in Pinterest land everyone else loves it too!

This is also one of the stamp sets that you can recieve a discount when you purchase the coordinating stamps and accessories together, saving you 15%. Who doesn't love a saving??!!

For those hopping along for the first time, we are a group of International Stampin' Up! demonstrators and we have a blog hop of the first and third Monday of each month. Each hop showcases one stamp set and we like to show you lots of different creative ways to use it!
Remember, if you get lost on the hop click on the banner at the top of this post and this will give you the list of all the 'hoppers' in The Stamp Review Crew.

I've created a frame to put up in my crafting space because I love this stamp set so much.
And I've kept the colours quite simple as to not make it all too busy.

I saw an idea of some butterflies in a frame on a recent trip to Ikea with my kids during their school holidays. The butterflies then gave me an idea to do something in a frame with the Watercolor Wings Butterflies.  I love where my inspiration comes from because sometimes it's so random like seeing a colour combo on wrapping paper or seeing something in Ikea that had butterflies on it. I see Stampin' Up! everywhere.

The background paper is the new Color Me Irresistible Speciality DSP. The coloured sheets have an embossed look and then you can colour the white sheets to make the patterns pop. It is beautiful paper! That's for sure!

The butterfly in the middle I've embossed with gold Stampin' Emboss powder and then the used heat and stick powder and Gold Stampin' Glitter for the centre of the butterfly. That glitter sure does go everywhere and sticks to everything!

The other butterflies I've just used the Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder and some Gold and Silver Metallic Thread.

I really love how the frame turned out and it looks stunning sitting on top of my Ikea Kallax storage unit. For those wanting to know where I got my frame from, I picked this beautie up from Kmart (Aust.) in the Scrapbooking section.
Now on to another Aussie, Nikki Spencer. Click on the 'Next Blog' button below to 'hop' on to her blog. Make sure you welcome her as it's her first hop with The Stamp Review Crew!

Just Add Ink #271 - Just Add a Sketch

This weeks Just Add Ink Challenge, brought to you by Narelle Farrugia (the sketch queen), is a sketch challenge.
I was playing around with the English Garden DSP for another card the other day and it was still sitting at my crafting desk so I thought I would have another play with it for today. It's such a pretty DSP!

I've used the colours Mossy Meadow (my favourite green. Swoon!), Melon Mambo and Whisper White and they co-ordinate perfectly with the English Garden DSP.

I thought because the DSP is quite busy that I didn't need much in the centre circle so I used the sentiment from the hostess set 'Best Thoughts'. I watercoloured the butterfly from the same set using Melon Mambo and fussy cut it out for a little accent on the top.

Its all finished off with some gold sequins from the Metallics Sequin Assortment and some linen thread.

Come and check out how all of the other Just Add Ink Design Team members have interpreted the sketch. Those gals are amazing! Click on the links on the Just Add Ink page and show us what you will do with the sketch.

TGIF Challenge #TGIFC11 - Watercolor Wings

It's been a while now since I've entered into a card challenge. I've been busy creating for the design teams that I'm on and that doesn't always leave me time to create just for myself.

I've done a big clean up of my craft space and done a little reorganising and I just wanted to get in there and create. It's amazing how a clean up of your crafting space and re-energise your creative flow. Now I have to remember where I put everything!

I've been watching the new card challenge blog TGIF Challenge for a few weeks and have really wanted to participate and this week I can.

This weeks challenge is a sketch challenge.

And this is my card

I've used the Watercolour Wings stamp set on vellum with Melon Mambo (stamped off once) and Gold Embossing Stampin' Emboss powder.

I did originally have a layer of the beautiful English Garden DSP behind the Hello Honey circle but it was just too busy. Sometimes less is more, isn't it?

Its all finished off with one of my most favourite new accessories Gold Metallic Thread. I can't make a card at the moment and not put that stuff on it. Just love it!!

Thanks for Stopping By!

Early Espresso Floral Wings

It's been awesome so far this month showing all the creations I made for my Catalogue Launch Party. I'm itching for you to see them all and just want to show them to you all now. But I did decide to do them one by one!  There will be three more posts after this one and then all the Catalogue Launch posts will be done. Sad I know. I'll just have to have another creating spree and do whole heap of other creations.

Today's card again shows the Floral Wings Stamp Set. This time using the sweet colour combo Early Espresso, Blushing Bride and Pear Pizzaz.

The background embossed panel is the Fluttering Embossing Folder. It's a stunning folder! I hope this one stays around for a while. And it goes perfectly with the Floral Wings Stamp set.

The butterfly is finished off with the Gold Metallic Thread and the Gold Basic Metal Buttons. I really love that thread! I can see myself using a lot of it.

Don't you just love how the Whisper White panel breaks up the Kraft background to provide some contrast?

Thanks for Stopping By.
